I wrote this blogpost in August, for a blog I used to have and I found that it helped a lot of people then, so I wanted to publish it on this blog as well, all I've changed is the comments from my followers, and I am so grateful for how many people were willing to help me - I had to cut down the comments because there were too many! I hope you enjoy this post.
Tall. Thin. Flawless skin. Faultless hair. Perfection. Society's view of perfection is stupid. Take a piece of paper with society's view of perfect on and rip it up because it is not real.
So much pressure is being put on young people these days, apparently it's not good to be curvy, or have imperfections. So we all have to be perfect now do we?
NO.
Stuff society, you can look however you like to look and you can be whatever weight you want to be and you can wear the clothes you feel comfortable in. Basically be whoever you are, because that's perfect for you.
But if you aren't confident in what you look like here's some advice!
- don't think about what your body looks like, focus on what you can do! What can you do?
Can you Dance? Can you Sing? Are you Amazing at a particular sport? Are you good at art? What other talents do you have?
-Something I want you to do: go to the mirror nearest to you. Look at yourself in that mirror. What do you like about yourself? Can't see anything you like? Look a little closer, get a better mirror. Find something, no matter how small, just something. Now embrace what you love about yourself!
- cut out size labels in your clothes. Sizes in different shops vary so so much, so why think of your clothes as a particular size? Think of them as the size that is perfect for you.
- do the things that you enjoy! Bake, dance, sing, draw, run, walk, sponsor an animal, do some charity work, do whatever makes you happy (unless its something illegal!) because (quote coming!) " love who you are, and love what you do because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter"
I also asked my followers if they had any advice, so here's what they said:

Quote: 'love yourself, without your flaws you wouldn't be you'
You shouldn't care what others think, the friends and the people that matter love you for you :) x

You're perfect, everyone is different and unique. Love your imperfections because they make you you:)

our flaws makes us different, unique, and beautiful!

Having self confidence is one of the best things you can do for yourself, ask your friends or family for advice because that's one of the ways to be comfortable and happy in your own skin!

At the end of the day nobody actually cares what you look like because you are your own person and they are only jealous of who you are

Our flaws make us different. What are we without our flaws? We're all 'normal' people, but what is normal? Who is normal? No one because we're all different, no one is normal, we're all special and we are not perfect, no one needs to be perfect. (Chloe)

Take a look in the mirror with a friend. Say something that you don't like about yourself. Everytime you say something bad about yourself your friend must say three good things. I once watched an assembly about how short life is. They measured the days of your life in jellybeans and lots had been used up for eating, sleeping and the usual stuff and then there was some used up for school and work and then stuff like that but after all of those there weren't many left. They asked us what we would do with our last few jellybeans. Would you use them to spend worrying what other people thought? Or would you not care because of how short a time it was? That's how you have to think. Don't waste time worrying about negativity of others. Focus on you!

If someone doesn't like you for your looks then let them be a rude person, be happy with what you are because there are always people who will look at you and be jealous of your body and your looks and wish you looked like them. Those rude people are only jealous that you are prettier than them and they are just heartless

Think of your ten year old self (or an age younger than you are now) and tell them everything you say to yourself everyday (e.g fat, ugly) You can't do it can you? so why do you do it to yourself everyday?

This might sound mean and I'm sorry, but find someone who you love or like or admire, whether they're your best friend or the "pretty girl". Now find something on them that maybe isn't quite perfect. At first you might think they are flawless, but everyone has their imperfections and that makes them who they are! Maybe they get quite a few spots or are really tall. Now think to yourself, does that make you like them any less? Does that stop them from making you smile? Does that mean that you don't think they look nice anymore? No. And they don't think that about you! They don't notice the little things that you notice about yourself, just like its hard to find imperfections in other people sometimes. But if they do see it (is its just as fact that you have super curly hair or w/e) , they don't care and it doesn't affect them at all! This is super long and probably doesn't make any sense sorry!

We can all have role models but if we strive to look like them, have the same personality as them and just generally be like them u will loose the person you were born to be ... Yourself!
