Orange and chocolate cookies|Ella

Hello everyone, today I have a baking post for you!
It's a cookie recipie with a twist☺️
They look like chocolate chip, however when you bite into them they are orange! I made these last week for Mothering Sunday, and another batch is in the oven now as I'm writing this.. Here's how you make them...

Ingredients:
  • •150g salted butter, softened
  • •80g light brown muscovado sugar
  • •80g granulated sugar
  • •2 tsp orange extract
  • 1 large egg
  • •225g plain flour
  • •¼ tsp salt
  • •200g plain chocolate chips or chunks
  • • 70g dark chocolate for decoration
  • Method:
  • Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5, and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
  • Put the butter and sugars into a bowl and beat until creamy with a mixer or wooden spoon.

  • Add in the orange extract and an egg. Sieve the flour, and salt over the mixture and mix in with a wooden spoon.

  • Add in your chocolate chips and stir. I cut up a chocolate bar for this step, so if you are doing the same, chop into small chunks on a chopping board.
  •
  • Mix together and if like me you want to save some, split into two balls and put in a bag for the freezer ( if you want to cook them later leave to defrost for 2 hours then cook like normal)

  • place small mounds of the mixture well apart on the baking trays and press lightly down.
  • Bake in the oven for 8–10 mins until light brown on the edges and still slightly soft in the centre. I recommend 9 minutes for the perfect cookies☺️

  • Finally i drizzled dark chocolate orange on them, this is messy but worth it! enjoy!

Happy baking
Love Ella x
